Thank You From Madeline

"From the past will come the future; what it holds, a mystery, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see."
Natalie Sleeth

Dear Parents,

I pray that you may enjoy good physical and spiritual health during the summer months.

Thank you for a year filled with many blessings.

Thank you for sharing time with the students, parents, faculty and staff.

Thank you for trusting, loving and supporting me during this challenging year.

Thank you for allowing us to be your partners in educating your child in the Catholic faith.

Thank you for being “Silver Boxes”.

May the Grace of God be with you during the summer months and remember prayer is time spent with the God who loves us.

In loving gratitude,
Madeline Rader

A Message From Kathy

“Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold;
for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.”
Proverbs 8:10-11

Dear St. Clare Friends,

Can you believe that our school year is done? It seems impossible that we have really weathered one full year. But we have. I say “WE” because indeed “WE” did it! At times, I am sure that you, like me, wondered if we could get all the way to the one year mark. It is beautiful that our faith sustained us throughout this most challenging and difficult transition year. None of this could have happened without your faith in our good God, in yourselves and in the children and faculty of the school and trust that the leadership would do their very best for everyone. No one said there wouldn’t be change and no one said it would be easy. No one said it would be quick, but we knew if, together, we had faith, trust, courage, and love we could accomplish even the most difficult hurdles.

I chose this quote from Proverbs because it really speaks to wisdom. We don’t often call on Proverbs when we pray, but think about this quote and you will see it resonates with all that you’ve worked for this year. Wisdom is, of course, presented as a feminine word. What else would SHE be? When we think of wisdom do we see some old crone? Do we see our grandmothers? Do we see a woman with white hair? OR do we see a person who has lived many years of life and is willing to share experiences, especially those grounded in faith? It is my hope that you see the latter. WHY? Wisdom is experience and it makes all of us better in all that we do.

The children in our community are wiser because of our experiences this past year. They understand loss and how it relates to love. They understand because everyone has shared their stories of how hard this year has been. I saw a student at Target around Christmas time and he mentioned that it was hard to go to the eighth grade classroom. I told him it was hard for me too. But then, the other night, I was at school for graduation activities and it wasn’t as hard as it was in the fall. WHY? I believe it is because we have walked this difficult journey together. We have supported each other and all others. We accepted what God asked of us and, every day, we became stronger. That is faith. That is belief. That is the legacy we give to our children. Jesus didn’t promise that his followers would have an easy road. He promised that the end of the road would be glorious. We aren’t there yet, but two of our friends made it last year.

I want to especially mention the positive role that the St. Clare faculty and staff provided for the students, each other, parents, and parishioners. The theme of LOVE was the impetus to act with LOVE to all each and every day. Because we LOVE doesn’t mean there is no disagreement or pain. It means that after everything is done, we still LOVE one another. That is the message of Jesus Christ. LOVE no matter what has happened.

I am indebted to Madeline Rader for her courage and love to and for our community. Madeline took the biggest risk of us all. She stepped into shoes that were not comfortable because she believes God asked that of her. She trusted that God would be at her side. She knew it would not be easy, that some people would not be able to trust or love her. However, she answered the higher call and she didn’t look back. A person who lacked faith could never have made the decision Madeline made just one year ago. So in the name of all of us, I say, Thank you, Madeline Rader, for your courage in taking that big step. Thank you, Madeline Rader, for daring to love even when it was difficult. Thank you, Madeline Rader, a true believer in our Lord, Jesus Christ.

I will end referring back to the beginning. Wisdom is more than jewels or silver. Wisdom is what makes us strong women and men of faith. Thank you all for being people of Wisdom. It took all of us, believing in our community, to accomplish this year of change. I am indebted to all of you for the manner in which you contributed to your growth and sustenance.

My visits to St. Clare reinforce for me the outstanding nature of your community. We do believe; we do act; we are people of faith.

With Gratitude,
Kathy Almazol
