Prayer to Love God above all Things

God, my Father

May I love You in all things and above all things.
May I reach the joy which You have prepared for me in Heaven.

Nothing is good that is against Your Will,
And all that is good comes from Your Hand.
Place in my heart a desire to please You
And fill my mind with thoughts of Your Love,
So that I may grow in Your Wisdom and enjoy Your Peace.

Sports Banquet

All are welcome to join us for our annual Sports Banquet on Tuesday, May 18th, at 6:00pm in St. Clare Hall. Tickets are $5 per person and can be pre-ordered for Will Call. We hope to see you there!!!

Parent Ed. Night - Cultivating an Ethic of Service in Our Children

Thursday, May 20, at 7:00pm, in the Eighth Grade classroom

Parents are the first role models when it comes to helping youth develop an ethic of service. Performing service with your child or as an entire family is a wonderful way to provide students with the opportunity to strengthen their commitment to Christian values through service to the wider community.

Join Cathy Avila-Linn, a St. Clare parent and experienced service-learning leader, to explore local service opportunities that your family can participate in this summer. The important factors to consider when choosing an appropriate service opportunity for your child will be identified and tips for maximizing your child’s service experience will be shared.

Saturday Work Day on May 22nd

This month's workday is on Saturday, May 22, starting at 9:00am. We need to setup the Festival stage and put up the shade canopies using the scaffolding. We need a good size crew of about 20 volunteers to help get the jobs finished by noon.

Some tools that can help make the jobs go faster are:

- Cordless Drills
- Wire Cutters
- Work Gloves

Please email us if you plan to attend and thanks for your help and understanding.

Festival Update

We have some fun activities planned for this year’s St Clare Festival:

Food, drinks, games, music, dancers, Linguica Sandwiches, Italian Sausage Sandwiches, Tamales, Beans, Rice, Salsa and Chips, Hot Dogs, Nachos, Strawberry Shortcake, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Garlic Bread, Salad, Corn, our famous Chicken Dinner, Hot Dogs, Nachos, Strawberry Shortcake, music from our local schools, contests, Bingo in the afternoon, contests, cupcake walk, games and fun.

Baking Contest

Bake a pie or decorate a cake or cupcake and win a prize. Bring your best baked good on Sunday for the judges and win a cash prize. Judges will taste slices of pie and judge best decorated cupcake or quarter-sheet or half-sheet cake. The contest takes place at 1:00pm and we’ll sell slices for dessert!

Cupcake Walk

We’re bringing back the Cake Walk, with an updated look. We will offer the usual cake walk game but winners will receive a cupcake. We’re looking for donations of cupcakes so if you can help, then we’ll all have more fun!

Contest Central

Practice your hula hoop, yoyo, running, water balloon toss, jump rope and singing skills. We will be hosting these contests all through the Festival for prizes. Anyone, young and old, can compete!

Algebra Class News

We have a group of twelve students in this year's eighth grade Algebra class. Every spring, we give a placement test to the seventh grade students to determine their level of readiness for Algebra. We gave the test today for next year's class.

We have been learning about polynomials recently, specifically about multiplying binomials and factoring trinomials. Earlier in the year we spent time learning about Linear Equations, Systems of Linear Equations and Linear Inequalities. We spent time with Exponentiation and Radicals (not the political kind!) and Properties of Exponents.

Our students look foward to continuing our Math courses in high school and are (usually) glad to have taken Algebra here.

Open Enrollment for 2010-2011

Applications are still being accepted for the 2010-2011 school year. If you have, or know of, a child that will be school age next year, stop by and pick up an application packet or go to our website to print an application.
